BrandKits helps you build the brand identity that reflects your business and personality, but we don't all get all big-agency jargon on you, we keep it simple and effective - because we understand that branding is just one part of building a business.

So you've got a cracking idea, now you need a brand to match. BrandKits understands what it's like starting off, you need to get up-and-running with a credible brand, quickly, and affordably. So let's start with the basics, you're going to need:

Brand Name

This is probably the hardest thing about starting a business, coming up with a name that fits the idea, no one else has, and is memorable. There are all sorts of names: founder names, descriptive names, made-up names, phrase names, metaphor names, foreign names, acronym names and many more. Often our clients bring a name and asks us to do the rest, but equally we can help you discover the 'eureka' name that's right for your brand.

Domain Name

These days developing a brand name and obtaining a domain name are a hand-in-hand project. You come up with a great name but the domain name is gone, so you jot notes with one hand and do a quick search with the other. Finding a domain name often means compromising. Perhaps you can't get the .com (which everyone wants but often isn't best, depends on your business model), or you have to accept a suffix to the brand name. The ultimate decision comes down to what you ant to live with – the perfect brand name, or the perfect domain name which will be your site address and email address. Tough choices indeed, phone a friend?

Logo

The logo design is inspired by the brand planning and the brand name itself. We understand that this is a voyage of discovery, often you really don't know what you're looking for, but you hope to hell you'll recognise it when you see it. Again it's one of the most difficult decisions you make as once a logo is created it really shouldn't be changed. It's now your mark. So we brief a number of designers who will all tackle the brief in different ways, leaving you with a choice of designs from which you can select one to develop. Once a chosen design has been developed, the final design will probably need a few variations: portrait, landscape, colour positive (for light backgrounds), colour negative (for dark backgrounds) and a black and a white version. Then of course you'll need an EPS file (the master) and PNG files for us on documents and emails. And you thought you just needed a logo.

Stationery

The art of saying hello. Even people who live online occasionally meet people for real, so you're going to need a business card. After the logo, a business card is likely to be next up, after all, you're going to want to spread the word while the site's being built. And yeah we know, no one really prints a letterhead anymore, but we're talking a basic design that you can use for proposals, invoices and yes, occasionally the odd letter. Once designed, we can supply a press-ready PDF or printing, but more likely you're going to want a Word template. Tap way, print to PDF, and bob's your uncle (he really is for us, hey Uncle Bob).

Website

This is really where your brand comes together. The logo, the look & feel, the tone of voice, the system, the process, the lot. Whether you think you need a 'little website' or accept that what your really trying to do is launch an online business, then we've got you covered. Email Template

So now you've got this far with your brand, it would be a shame to send plain text emails to people. Our system uses an HTML email template to send auto-reply emails once an order is placed, or a form filled in, and of course you'll probably want to send newsletters to your customers every now and again. So designing a template that reflects your brand, links customers back to the site and contains the info to prove you're not a dirty rotten spammer is like the fairy on the top of the Christmas tree. A nice touch.

Brand Development

If you've been going for a while, and working in the business rather than on the business, then sometimes your brand gets a bit out of shape and needs some development. Whether it needs a simple refresh or a complete rethink and redesign, we can work with you to sharpen it up and relaunch it. There is no 'kit' for this, our approach is to discuss with you what you need and work on a proposal to deliver what you need to get where you need to be, be it just the branding, or taking your brand to the next level with a new site and system.
